Keep Calm and Drink Bia Hoi Art Print

“Bia hoi,” or draught beer, comes fresh from the flagship HABECO factory and a few other large breweries in Hanoi on a daily basis. It is brewed with malt, hops, rice, yeast and water. It is fermented throughout the day and drunk within one day. Every morning, a swarm of motorbikes cart heavy loads of barrels and kegs to retail outlets. “Bia hoi” is non-pasteurized with no preservatives, and with an alcohol content as low as 3 to 4%. It is widely sold at ridiculously cheap prices. The pale amber-colored beer with a thick blanket of foam traditionally served in a tall, pale-green, thick glass is enjoyed by people from different walks of life: be they retirees, office workers, students or the nouveau riche.
