Hanoi Flower Power

The art series “Hanoi Flower Power” embraces the passage of time and the transience of seasons depicted through the fleeting beauty of seasonal flowers in Hanoi. On a deeper level, it is a glimpse into the impermanence of life and a reminder that everything always changes. Seasons change and so does life. And it’s not something to be afraid of. It’s what makes life beautiful and worth living. Whether it is a brief encounter with a stranger or something as fleeting as a flower, each moment in life is to be cherished. It’s a beautiful sight to behold. It’s what called ‘ichigo ichie’ (the Japanese practice of treasuring each moment).

The series takes you on a journey through different seasons in Hanoi represented by monthly flowers. ‘Hoa Cai’ (the bright yellow flowers) are wild flowers available during winter which represent resilience and radiance. ‘Hoa Loa Ken’ (white lily) marks the transition between spring and summer. ‘Hoa Phuong’ (phoenix flower) heralds the end of a school year, the arrival of exam season and bittersweet graduation. ‘Hoa Dao’ (peach blossoms) is a welcome sign of spring, prosperity and the Lunar New Year.
