// HANOI TROPICAL ESCAPE CANDLE //
On the surface, Hanoi might appear to be a busy, bustling city. Scratching beneath the surface, however, and you’ll find some pockets of tranquil escapades.
To the northeast of the city is the centuries old Long Bien Bridge, still bearing the scars of the Vietnam War. A few steps down the bridge is Middle Warp or Banana Island – a world away from the hubbub of the city. Banana Island is a patch of land that juts out over the murky Red River. Once the site of a flourishing village (most of its inhabitants relocated to other districts of Hanoi when it began to erode), the island is now home to a cross-section of rural life. Brimming with corn and banana trees, vegetable gardens and stilt houses made from scraps, it’s a quiet backwater and serves as a breath of fresh air in the middle of a bustling city.
